The Lunenburg Public Schools seeks a motivated individual to serve as Custodian and Utility Person person.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Custodian and Utility Person GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS 1) Previous experience- Custodial or related work experience is helpful.
2) Health- Must be of sound health to be able to perform vigorous physical work, Successful physical examination is required for initial employment.
3) Character- Courteous, willing to help and get along with co-workers, administrators and teachers to achieve school objectives.
4) Education- Preferably a high school graduate.
5) Dependability- Should have good work-attendance record, and be able to exercise good judgment on job and follow oral and written directions.
6) Personal appearance- Should be clean and neat, with pride in appearance.
7) Attitude- Must have the willingness to take instructions and carry them out; to perform a variety of work assignments as the needs of the school require, to strive for economy in work practices and supply use, and have willingness to help fellow workers in emergency situations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF CUSTODIAN/UTILITY PERSON 1) Assist in snow and ice removal to insure public safety, as needed, checks safety equipment and is responsible for flag displays etc.

2) Keeps building and premises in clean, sanitary condition, including floors, windows, desks, restrooms, etc.
Empties wastebaskets and trash containers and disposes of contents.
Performs other custodial duties as directed by the Senior Custodian, the Director of Facilities or School Administrators.
3) Reports to Senior Custodian needed repairs or supplies.
Helps in repairing or replacing as needed.
4) Possesses the ability to perform minor repairs to equipment or building.
5) Assists in such tasks as painting, glass replacement, minor electric repairs, carpentry, lawn and shrub care, etc.

6) Monitors use of building by school and outside groups.
Corrects irregularities or brings them to the attention of Senior Custodian, Director of Facilities, or an Administrator.
7) Insures that emergency exits and emergency lights are operating during occupied hours.
8) Secures windows and doors at the end of the work shift as directed.
9) Reports emergencies to Director of Facilities or Police/Fire Departments as required.
10) Perform other Custodial or maintenance duties as may be required for the proper operation of the schools.
The job performance of the Custodian and Utility Person will be evaluated by the Senior Custodian and Director of Facilities annually.
Evaluation, to include plan for corrections, additional training, etc.
